RruTryWhatever the style you wish to learn, I will assist you in your journey to become the guitar player YOU want to be. I use a variety of teaching methods and will happily adapt my approach to meet the individual student's needs. As well as teaching guitar and bass I can tutor students in music theory, and can assist in GCSE and A level coursework and syllabus. As an actively gigging musician I can aid my students in their performance skills, building confidence and assurity on stage with the help of the 20 years of experience i have of playing in live situations.
I'm confident teaching most styles of guitar and bass, but classical guitar would be for beginners only as it is not a style I have pursued in depth. I will happily teach ANY age and already teach a huge range of ages, from 8 to 68! As well as instrumental and theoretical tuition, I also offer songwriting and arranging tutelage, and can assist in the recording of student’s songs as part of my remit to universally further my students in their pursuits.
I started to attempt to strum the guitar at the age of 15, but it wasn’t until a year later that I really started to learn how to play. I was fortunate enough to come across an advert in a corner shop for guitar lessons. Nick was, and still is, the biggest inspiration to my playing. I still find myself referencing techniques, ideas, and philosophies that he taught me even to this day, 23 years later. Nick taught me a lesson that has remained paramount in my everyday playing, teaching, and overall approach to the guitar. He taught me to try and sound like ME, not to be a facsimile of another player, but rather use the lessons available from listening to the best players in the world and adapting playing styles to form my own personal musical idiom.
Indeed it was Nick’s influence that spurred me on to become a teacher, as I felt that his approach is something that should be developed and nurtured.
I am fully CRB checked and hold an HND in jazz and contemporary music and am in the proceeds of finishing a degree in popular music. I have studied at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, the City of Liverpool College and John Moores?ref=br_tf ), based in Crosby, and as a peripatetic guitar and bass teacher at Sacred Heart Schoo
"The world is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round; it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun... for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, and they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid -EVER- because, this is just a ride." - Bill Hicks - Revelations, 1993.
